With a clap of thunder the skies opened wide
and God’s holiest angels came forth from inside.
Wrapped in purity, such beauty and grace,
and led by God’s own son, the savior of the human race.
We shine like suns. We kill the night. We are aflame with the energy.
When evil strikes we shall avenge. We blaze with righteous fury.
With the blare of Gabriel’s trumpet and the edge of Michael’s sword,
the hoard of demons routed, cowering before the Lord.
“You are beaten, surrender, or you will be destroyed.”
But Satan threw back his head and laughed, “As will we all.”
And the master of all evil raised up a golden bell and shook it until
its ringing echoed throughout all creation. And the demons turned
to face their foes once more with their fangs gleaming and their eyes
blazing. And for the first time in their existence God’s holiest angels
knew true fear, for the one man they could not allow entrance paradise was
walking through heaven’s gate.
