Chambers
(John Raymond Pollard)
2002-04-01
In the courtyard children’s laughing
As they’re playing hide and seek
Carries to the chamber where you sleep.
Fairest maiden of the castle,
You’re betrothed to my liege,
Oh so close, yet far too far from me.
Touched by a fire dragon
Hearts are aflame, brandishing passion never slain.
I’ll be standing guard at midnight
In the star light and the breeze
As you cast a furtive glance on me.
My heart seems a tortured chamber
Racked with longing, strong and deep.
How I long to hold you as you sleep.
Touched by a fire dragon
Hearts are aflame, brandishing passion never slain.
Rumors echoed ‘round the castle
Say you’re gaunt from lack of sleep
And the wizard blames it on a pea --
A pea, not me, this peon.
And we go on restlessly,
Dreaming for a faery tale ending.
