Equality

Some may tell you what they want.
Some will ask you what you need.
"Times are tough," they ask, "what is enough?"
I reply "equality."
I don't want a pedestal,
Don't expect me at your feet.
I'm not afraid to lay stake to my claim,
And I claim equality.
Some pretend there's a hidden agenda.
Talking heads on TV
Feign a debate spouting sound bites of hate,
Claiming a holy decree.
I reply, equality: no more nor less for you and me.
Blaze a trail for Liberty. Shine a light through history
Be not ashamed to say it proud and plain
That we claim equality.
Some pretend there's a hidden agenda.
Talking heads on TV feign a debate spouting sound bites of hate,
Claiming a holy decree.
I reply, equality: no more nor less for you and me.
Some may tell you what they want.
Some will ask you what you need.
"Times are tough," they ask, "what is enough?"
I reply; I claim what's mine for humankind and for all time:
Equality.
