And when the sun begins to shine again
Remember what the moon and stars were all about
Remember, remember, what they're all about...
Pokey, the rodeo clown
Made the kids laugh when the bulls came around
They never knew what a serious game he played
He was in love with the rodeo queen
And every night he would follow Darlene
Home from the tent just to make sure she was safe
She never knew that Pokey cared
Cause he never spoke; he could only stare
And shake his head in wonder when she walked by
Now Pokey's rivals didn't have much luck
When it came to Darlene, except for Buck
Who had that reputation as a ladies man
She knew Buck had a roving eye
But sometimes Pokey would see her cry
And wish that he could make her smile again
One day on a brahma ride, Buck got thrown and hurt his side
The big bull made a turn for another run
The people pointed and Darlene screamed
And Pokey jumped right between
And Buck was saved but Pokey's time had come
Some say Pokey lost his touch
But what they say don't matter too much
Buck and Darlene settled down
They left the show when the show left town
They had a kid about a year ago
Brought him around to the rodeo
Buck said they decided when the baby came
To give him Pokey's name
And when the sun comes to shine again
Remember what the moon and stars were all about
Remember, remember, what they're all about...
