Our sun has set
Pulling darkness over our eyes
but we already blackened our skies
an absence that remains untouched
As if by design
we close our eyes and hope to climb
reaching in vain only to find
nothing in our hands
The light of day will highlight the faults once again
So close your eyes and pray that the night will never end
With the truth just a memory
It’s just that easy to ignore
When complacency’s the way to go
The joy of life becomes the art of dying slow
Through false hope we fall
We turn our eyes to the sky
To make the Earth go away
But through our gaze we never see
Despair became our sky today
And the ground was thought a giant grave
as a requiem fell on the stave
and the symphony began to play
Thus we regress
a day is just another lament
commemorating our descent
and the frailty of joy
The veil of night shall hide the fate from which we all run
but a lack of night cannot disguise that our fall has begun
Distracted by the sun, we looked into the sky
we couldn’t see the end ‘til it was right before our eyes
With the truth just a memory
It’s just that easy to ignore
When complacency’s the way to go
The joy of life becomes the art of dying slow
Through false hope we fall
We turn our eyes to the sky
To make the Earth go away
But through our gaze we never see
Despair became our sky today
