Lanterns
So long I waited there,
Beyond the spire, behind the square.
You said you'd meet me when,
The lanterns would be in the air.
It was the Summertime,
The canvas sky, of dreamy nights.
Down by the riverside,
We found a secret place to hide.
Closing our eyes,
To future goodbyes.
Now count to three,
It's just you and me.
There goes another year,
Since we were young, since you were here.
It's not that I forget,
The way we ended things unsaid.
Down by the riverside,
The shivering snowflakes intertwined.
Here in the Winter cold,
I find a secret place of old.
Closing my eyes,
To all the goodbyes.
Now count to three,
Is it you and me?
