Standing on a distant shore
As evening falls
No regrets, i won't deplore
Our twilight calls
Of all the things we've said and done
They're past recovery
A whisper in the wind that's gone
Like an unsung melody
And i'm hoping and praying
You'll wait for me
As our time slithers by
Inconsiderably
Haunted by these scattered hours
And turning of the tide
Still i shield this love of ours
Against the cold of night
A siren in the distance screams
Might as well be closing in
My blood runs dry or so it seems
Wondering what might have been?
What's all that shouting?
Why would they care?
My vision starts shrouding
Maybe you're there
In a last starlit glare...
Pain without gain was my game
No turning around on life's one way street
My visions and dreams
Were too fragile to last
Guess our only crime was wasting time
Not holding our love in high esteem
Too many precious moments got begrimed
Out of habit and by routine
We were not what we could have been
Like two puppets on a string
Like a broken violin
