As the darkness that surrounds me
Tightens its grip around my mind
I shall cling on to the memories
Hoping they won't fade in time
I'll write songs and allegories
For those I left behind
Come what may
I'll always carry them with me
In heart and mind their presence be
They're in my thoughts and in my dreams
They are the air I breathe
My life was planned in detail
Much like a well constructed maze
But with trapdoors and shortcuts
Built on a lifetime of escapades
Then I lost the plan, the layout
Yes I guess I lost my way
Come what may
I'll stay on course, the best I can
But should the wind choose and demand
To lead me onto distant shores
No matter how my heart implores
Take me home, let me rest my bones
I search to find some peace of mind
But the end seems out of range
Please, take me home from the great unknown
I have roamed and lingered here so long
How I wish the winds would change
And take me home
To all those that I love and cherish
To those I hold dear to my heart
Please forgive me as I falter on my way back home
To Ithaka
