there she sits across from me
we happen to be on the same journey
she's cute and she's just a child
thinks the plane is a carnival ride
it's her first time being alone
she's protected by strangers though
the world around her is deathly scared
but she's too brave to be afraid
her innocence is beautiful
her heart is good, her mind is pure
she changes both my worldly eyes
and brings me peace, brings me peace tonight
sleeps as if the sky's her bed
I wish I had her kind of faith
still believes and trusts in the world
only sees the good in this world
she's too young to wander alone
I wonder why she left her home
I speculate she had to escape
to a destination that would keep her safe
in a place where face value has no value
and lies are worth more than truths
in a time when we fear the unseen
and lose sight of what's to be seen
her innocence is beautiful
her heart is good, her mind is pure
she changes both my worldly eyes
and I see life under different lights
as we fly high into the sky
she draws balloons in the night
she brings me peace tonight
