It's funny how a photograph can take you far away
And make a moment int he past seem like yesterday
But the longer I see this world from behind these hazel eyes
The less I know this face that stares me back
though it was mine
And like the blink of an eye it slipped quietly by
The life of a child
If I could touch the sun and take it in my hands
I'd hold it in the sky
And just stop time
And lately I've been wondering will we ever see the light?
There's a broken road ahead of us
and we're driving through the night
And as we travel down this way and take the path unpaved
I look to my rearview and question the choice I have made
Time burns, time turns a mountain into sand
A boy into a man
And like the blink of an eye it slipped quietly by
The life of a child
If I could touch the sun and take it in my hands
I'd hold it in the sky
And just stop time
It's funny how a photograph can take you far away
