This desert floor becomes a canvas
It whispers: Welcome home
And for the week we are its artwork, created as we roam
And every time I close my eyes, I hear a melody reprise
One we created out of love and sang at the top of our lungs
Sometimes it's a surprise to me
What simple things can bring such clarity
Like a playa lit as endless as the sea
Come and leave the default world behind us
And when the sun goes down, the lights and love will blind us
And we can drink those colors in and bathe in sin
We've earned this time of release
Yeah, we'll fall out of typical
Into where we all are just who we are
And even though we'll soon be gone
We'll look back on this place we fondly call home
I see myself in your reflection
I feel your troubled pulse
Looking around for the direction
In which you feel the pull
But every time you close your eyes
You feel the heaviness that lies
Inside your chest and in your head
No matter who is in your bed
Sometimes it's a surprise to me
How miserable we make our lives to be
Such a waste of time and all your energy
So, come and leave the default world behind us
And we can lose ourselves till morning comes to find us
And every single day we spend
We learn again how good it feels to be free
Yeah, we'll fall out of typical
Into where we all are who we'll become
And we can drink those colors in and bathe in sin
We've earned this time of release
Each day we spend we learn again
How good it feels to be free
And even though we'll soon be gone
We'll look back on this place we fondly call home
