Running out of money like I ran away from Asheville
Teardrops in the corners of my eyes will make me bashful
But you can't hide the truth, when it's pouring out of you
just like the liquor that you're pouring down your throat
And I believe that sarcasm is just a form of safe truth
Filtering the feelings that you're trying not let loose
But you can't fool them all, no your bluffs will all get called
And they'll all see you for what you really are
Confused, and a little bit scared
And completely unprepared to face this next chapter of life
Without a reading light in the dark
And I've been kicking through the leaves
Like I've been kicking through my plans at night
Every time I think they're set in stone
It changes like a stoplight
It goes from green to red, before you know it
You'll be dead, and the yellow light just warned you
All along to slow down
All these kids are preaching about living fast and dying young
I suppose I'm into that cuz growing old don't seem as fun
You gotta get it while you can
Before you're forced to be a man
And start doing things the way they should be done
In control, and aware, that you've got to make them care
And the only way they'll care is if someone tells them that it's cool
So is it cool?
