Through Fingers Runs The Dust
To the old tree
She said good-bye last may
Did not try looking back
She's gone the track
Which leads to brighter days
In a dream
She saw a gold-well gleaming bright
Meanwhile the tree has died
Its leafs have lied
On burnt off fields
Out of sight
The morning sky's alarming darkened
By black clouds, they crossed her way
And the few brooks, she was passing by
Were stinking, stale and grey
So she stared into the water
Saw a dead leaf swam its way
And the doubts began to eat her up
She's falling down to pray
But she didn't walk alone
When she was leaving home
Pure greed was on her side
The tree died of her pride
And now through fingers runs the dust
She couldn't quell her lust
The tree died of her pride
It's happened out of sight
And she slid to the ground
She said good-bye last may
But she didn't walk alone
When she was leaving home
Pure greed was on her side
The tree died of her pride
And now through fingers runs the dust
She couldn't quell her lust
The tree died of her pride
It's happened out of sight
