She's shaking like some new kind of dance move,
The kind you threw down during prom back in
highschool.
I remember looking back at all those kids.
Were they drowning? Why all the flailing?
And the girls were all dancing so provocatively,
Just like that girl on MTV.
The pregnant one who still smokes meth,
'To watch her figure, to stay attractive'
And the boys were all watching so mechanically,
But they were too afraid to touch.
Because our culture plays defense around every girls
lips.
But i'm sitting down next to a window in the back,
Getting way too drunk to stand.
She comes and asks me if I want to go and dance,
I said, "I'm thinking about existence..."
If we just can't comprehend this painting that we're
living in,
We might as well close our eyes,
And lay down. We'll lay down on the railroad tracks,
Show the world some solid fact,
Because you're not living life anyways.
She cannot do without,
A life without a purpose, or a boy without a promise,
but I guess they're just the same.
They're all the same to me.
But it doesn't always work that way.
Just because you want him to, doesn't mean he'll
follow through,
So you just have to hope for the best.
If we just can't comprehend this painting that we're
living in,
We might as well close our eyes,
And lay down. We'll lay down on the railroad tracks,
Show the world some solid fact,
Because you're not living life anyways.
