Endless Dark Rivers
Once upon a primordial shore
On sandaled feet, apposing the waters
Brigades of men, combatants of old
Point their steel at a setting sun
Lo, the light retreats
And wild beasts tarry not
For their nightly hibernation
Though ghosts of war dance on the waves
I remember long ago
When carefree we fished the rivers
As children it was our own world
In the chasms of yesteryear
I can see now the battlefield
Blood and water merge
A river blackened with death
Endless dark rivers
These lands have been forsaken
Tainted by swords of fury
Drink not the graveyard waters
The streams are flowing poison
A curse upon us all
All has been for naught
Lands scorched with war
Blighted by onslaught
Ruined tides, blood of many
Contamination from shore to plain
A river blackened with death
Endless dark rivers
