I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day in the morning
There comes a ship a-sailing
With angels flying fast;
She bears a splendid cargo
And has a mighty mast.
And what was in those ships all three
On Christmas day in the morning
The ship is fully laden,
Right to her highest board;
She bears the Son of heaven,
God's highest eternal word.
Pray, whither sailed those ships all three?
On Christmas day in the morning
Upon the sea unruffled
The ship moves in to shore,
To bring us all riches
She has within her store.
O, they sailed on to Bethlehem
On Christmas day in the morning
And that ship's name is Mary,
Of flowers the rose is she,
And brings to us her baby
From sin to set us free.
And all the bells on earth shall ring
On Christmas day in the morning.
