Curtains Lyrics[Chorus: Susie Mills]
I wish you could know
The reason that I'm feeling so low
Let's keep the curtains closed
I know that I'll make it through
Just give me a day or two
(Yeah)
[Verse 1: Joshua Luke Smith]
Ah man it's true what they say in clichés
I became a father and I saw my childhood in a different way
My perspective shifted, moving from the pasture of my pain to see the ways you've been afflicted
It's not like I've got words to give a true description
I could never understand why there was something missing
Coming down from my room and see you in kitchen
Crying on your own wishing that someone would listen
I'd go back the way I came thinking you didn't see me
Play outside until 6, Simpsons on the tv
Me and my sisters laughing, but with a glance I'd know
The tears behind your glasses were a mirror to your soul
Looking back, I was too young to make sense of it
I didn't understand depression, but to me it was a pestilence
It took my mother to the edge of the precipice
But then I saw you reach the heaven and the hell of [?]
[Chorus: Susie Mills]
I wish you could know
The reason that I'm feeling so low
Let's keep the curtains closed
I know that I'll make it through
Just give me a day or two
(Yeah)

You showed me poetry you used to write
The ink was dry, but your words bled out like a crimson side
As I've grown older, and I've lived through my own winter nights
I've realized it ain't as simple as I used to think and feel inside
A song can lead us to the brink and misty skies can take away the light and make us feel like life is slipping through our fingers
Dark days come and pain lingers on the pages of our spirit
I'm just grateful that your still here with us
There was so much you couldn't tell us
That must have been lonely
And yet you didn't let that stop you, love me and console me
Now I'm older looking back and I often think If only
And yet the greatest poems tend to end without resolving
I guess more than happy endings, we want mystery
And that's the greatest gift you could have given me
You taught me to embrace the beauty in between
The darkness and the light and that's where we're truly free
[Chorus: Susie Mills]
I wish you could know
The reason that I'm feeling so low
Let's keep the curtains closed
I know that I'll make it through
Just give me a day or two
