The Blind Hero
Success on all fronts!
The war machine pushes forward,
Bringing more and more nations,
To heel,
The people sing in the streets,
Under the warm sun,
Theirs is the nation of consequence,
Celebrations!
Orations!
Statues!
Speeches!
Their prince, their hero!
But his critics remain,
Behind closed doors,
Whispering of his dealings,
Of a mysterious king,
And of the soldiers who look so grim,
Even in their victory,
As the night falls,
The people retreat to their houses,
Even the strongest do not wander in the streets now,
Children are taken,
And no traces found,
Things fester in the alleys,
Away from the light,
The cities begin to twist,
A sinister aspect added to what was once so fair,
But their prince is blind!
It grows,
And the people fear it as the light,
Their protector, begins to falter with the seasons,
Things fester in the alleys,
Away from the light,
The cities begin to twist,
A sinister aspect added,
To what was once so fair,
But their prince is blind!
