I can still see my pa sitting on the old verandah
Just letting sundays float away
Watching us children play
Sometimes we'd go for a drive
Just to see the countryside
This would always bring a smile
Life was free, life was wild
When I was a child
I remember yesterday
The smell of harvest hay
Sunday drivin' in the old black car
At night we'd see the stars so bright
Country life
After the sun would die, surrender to the night
We'd sit around the fire-side
And talk about the day gone by
For time had no real purpose
Our days just went in circles
From week to week, from year to year
Until those days all disappeared
Now it's memories that hold them near
I remember yesterday
The smell of harvest hay
Sunday drivin' in the old black car
At night we'd see the stars so bright (so bright)
Country life
