[Spoken Word]
Okay, "Blowing Smoke"
This is another one that Audrey and I did together
And we wrote it in our little front yard at night
And I think the nighttime of it all kind of influenced the, the—
It's a darker song, I think
Um, I know I felt kind of momentary rage while writing this one
Um, but we had a good time with it too
I, it was this really interesting thing where all the songs
That I have written before this album
That had kind of a serious tone
I was kind of not frowning throughout the process of writing it but
I was rarely even cracking a smile and even with "Blowing Smoke" we were
I mean, I, you should have been there, you know
Laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing
I think my favourite part about this song is the bridge
Into the last hook into the outro
I love the breakdown of the bridge so much, it's some of my favourite
Visuals on the album
And then there's this part in the bridge, Aaron Dessner
Producer on this album and family to me, uh
He had gone to sleep one night
After we had started working on "Blowing Smoke"
And Audrey and I went downstairs in the studio
Because we were sleeping upstairs
Came downstairs, we were in the kitchen, I think we had like
A glass of tequila or something, a glass of tequila
We had some tequila and then
There's this part where it's like
"And I know, I know, I know, I know, and I know, I (Hey, hey, hey, hey)"
You know what I'm saying?
The "Hey, hey, heys," we love the "Hey, hey, heys"
Um, okay, listen to the song, not my voice here anymore
Dear Lord, okay, goodbye
