[Spoken Word]
Okay, "I Knew It, I Know You"
This was one of the earlier ones that Audrey and I wrote for the record
Um, one of the things that I love about this song so much is that
There's three parts that feel very distinctively different to me
Uh, I love how quickly we got this one out
Um, and I think, to be honest with you
One of the best parts about writing with someone that knows you so well is that
This is what Audrey would do all the time, she'd be like, "Just say the thing"
And so, for example, the C part, the outro section of this song
Every single line, like, how what is like that, um, you know?
"And all I ever did was consider you until all I could do was consider me
I was your entertainment from a dark place
You don't know how to step outside yourself"
The, uh, imagine us sitting in the kitchen, singing these things
It was just like kind of screaming these things
And line-for-line, they stuck, um, with the final version of the song
So I was a total stream of consciousness one
And I, I really love the way that Audrey sounds on it
She sings backing vocals on a ton of these, and I, she has my favourite voice
And I love how our voices blend on this one
I just do, that's my truth—
