At the Cliffs of Desolation
risen above the valleys, high above the town
watching my kind carry out their daily works...
envenomed winds lash their tongues, of virulent animosity
pernicious thoughts ravage my mind...
how could i let my defenses fail like this?
as the sun lends me it's beautiful rays
and it sheds light on the world's beautiful face
a friends smile, i scorn, and sever the warmth
the rocks below are calling out my name
once again
avoiding the stare of the ones, who can see into my soul
the windows are wide but the void within is dark, and cold...
dirges and hymns resound, throughout the echoing hollows
and the only retreat seems thrown into the shadows
how could i let my defenses fail like this?
as the sun lends me it's beautiful rays
and it sheds light onto your beautiful face
a friends smile, i scorn, and sever the warmth
the rocks below are calling out my name
but I remain...
